MAKE YOURE OWN FABRIC APPLIQUÉS

So I decided that it is time to go step forward at my craft hobby which is full-time writing of sewing tutorials and PDF paper pattern making.

If you wish to create your own fabric appliqué as your unique mark this is the right place to teach yourself how to do it.

Appliqué is fabric cut in a fun shape that is applied like a patch, directly onto the fabric. This tutorial shows you how you can use fun print design to create your own appliqués and patches for your projects.

You don't need to be an artist to start drawing your own appliques.

Start with simple shapes or find it with a web browser as a CLIP ART in BLACK and WHITE COLOUR ...

start with simple shape

Then save the image on your PC. For enhancing the photo in Windows 10 use PAINTER

If you want to make quick edits to your photos, Windows 10 has all you need in built in. Microsoft Paint and Photos provide powerful editing tools you can use to crop, cut, resize and touch photos. There is no need to download a third party editor for common tasks.

Click the Edit button (pencil icon) or press Ctrl + E
use the Crop Selection button, then select the area of the photo you want to Crop, then click Crop.

If you want to resize, under the same Home tab, click Resize, then enter dimensions:

Then print your motive. To resize the individual pieces, I just ran them through my printer, and either reduced or enlarged them accordingly.

Tracing the parts I wanted to keep! You can use a lightbox, or even just tape the print out to a window, then put a blank piece of paper on top.

Super simple and fun process!

Wait a minut and read the TIP!

If the appliqué is made by combining individual parts you should trace each piece separately.

I hope you’ll give it a try and have fun with it!  Applique can add so much to your quilting and sewing projects!
